Invisalign

If the thought of wearing metal braces and wires again makes you shudder, you are not alone. That’s why at Volterra Dental, we give our patients who need orthodontics the option of comfortable, discreet Invisalign clear braces! Say goodbye to both crooked teeth and metal braces – call our Los Alamitos, CA dental office at 562-735-2363 for Invisalign.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign uses a series of custom-made plastic trays similar to athletic mouthguards. You will wear each unique tray for about two weeks before graduating to the next. In this way, they will gently guide your teeth into alignment a little at a time until your perfect smile is achieved.

You will need to wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 20 hours a day to get good results. But unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are:

  • Removable, so you can take them out to eat or for easy cleaning
  • Discreet, because they are made from clear, comfortable plastic so no one will notice you’re wearing them

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

Invisalign typically takes 6-18 months to straighten your teeth – less than half the time of metal braces. But every smile is different. During your private consultation, we can use computer simulations to estimate your treatment time and show you the results before you even start!

How Does Invisalign Compare To Metal Braces?

Traditional braces use brackets cemented to your teeth. By tightening wires connected to those brackets, your teeth are gently pushed and pulled into the correct position.

Invisalign does the same using clear plastic trays. Studies have shown that, for most people, Invisalign will do the same job as traditional braces but in less time and with more comfort.

Do You Offer Metal Braces?

At our Los Alamitos, CA dental office, we offer both metal braces and Invisalign because we want to give you as many options as we can. If you have a problem with your bite such as an overbite or underbite, metal braces may work better for you. Often, metal braces are more affordable. Talk to Dr. Laos to figure out which option is best for you.

Does Invisalign Still Require A Retainer?

Yes. A retainer literally retains the new position of your teeth following an orthodontic procedure. Without a retainer, your teeth can drift back out of alignment. At Volterra Dental, we can provide you with a custom-made retainer, regardless of whether you use metal braces or Invisalign.
